5 Hidden Forscore Features You’ll Wish You Knew Sooner

​​If you’ve been using Forscore for a while, you probably already know the basics like turning pages, making annotations, and organizing your sheet music. But there are so many great features hidden away in the app that can make playing on your iPad even smoother. Today I want to share five of my favorite hidden Forscore features.

Advanced Metronome

Although Forscore’s metronome looks simple on the surface, there are more advanced features within it! One of the best features is Autoturn. You can set how many beats or measures you’d like the metronome to play, until it automatically turns the page of your score.

To use Autoturn:

• Open the Metronome and choose your tempo.
• In the bottom left, select Autoturn.
• Select beats and choose how many measures to count before turning the page.
• Start the metronome by choosing audible, visible, or both.

This can be really helpful if you don’t have a bluetooth page turner and need to practice something that happens between two pages of music!

Secondary Windows / Split Screen

If you want to compare two pieces of music or two editions of the same piece, you can actually open two windows of Forscore and split screen them to see them both at once!

To try it:

• Tap the three dots at the top of the app
• Select Open in New Window in the bottom of the screen, and a new Forscore window will open.
• Tap the three dots again, and select the other Forscore window.
• You’ll now see both Forscore windows side by side!

You can scroll, annotate, or zoom in one window without affecting the other. It’s really helpful for score study!

Tabs

Tabs are like your browser’s tabs, but for sheet music. Instead of viewing two scores at the same time, you can easily switch between them.

You may have to enable tabs first: Go to Settings > Controls > Always Show Tab Bar.

Then the tabs will work very similarly like those in an internet browser.

I need to start using this more for teaching, when I’m going back and forth between the same pieces throughout the week!

Corner Shortcuts

This one’s hiding in plain sight! If your top bar is hidden, you can tap the top corners of your screen to quickly jump back to what you were doing.

• Top-left corner: Reopens your most recent Library view (like Scores or Setlists).
• Top-right corner: Reopens your most recent Tools panel (like the Metronome).

It’s subtle, but once you get used to it, you’ll love how much time it saves. I need to build this into my muscle memory!

Reflow

Reflow is a really cool feature changes your sheet music into a scrolling, teleprompter-style view that’s perfect for smaller screens. I recently tried this feature on my iPhone since it’s marketed as an iPhone-exclusive feature, but it’s also available in the iPad app!

To enable it:

• Go to Settings → Accessibility and turn on Reflow.
• Then, in the top bar, tap the settings wheel to the left of the title of your score.
• Now you’ll see an arrow icon on the bottom row of options. Select that, and you’ll enter Reflow mode.
• Your music will be automatically cropped into one-line chunks that scroll continuously.
• You can pinch to zoom, adjust the size, or swipe through the music without worrying about page turns.
• To exit, just tap the X in the corner.
