Forscore

Price: one-time payment of $19.99, optional subscription of $9.99 yearly

Platform: iOS only

My library organization in forscore

If you’re using an iPad to read sheet music, forscore is basically an essential. This all-in-one app is a pdf reader, music annotation tool, metronome, tuner, and so much more. Reading your sheet music is super easy and feels very similar to playing from paper sheet music because of the clean interface.

Forscore is easy to organize, which is a big reason why I love it! You can see how I organize all of my scores in today’s video.

Andante Practice Journal

Price: free; one-time payment of $3.99 for pro features

Platform: iOS only

My statistics in Andante Practice Journal

This is the best, most simple practice journal app I’ve tried, and I use it every single time I play to track my practice sessions. The interface is clean and not distracting, which makes it a perfect companion while practicing!

In Andante Practice Journal, you can log your practice sessions and track your mood and focus to then view powerful analytics about how you practice. Within your practice session, you have access to a tuner, metronome, timer, and session notes.

One feature I really love about this app is the ability to log previous practice sessions! This is super helpful if I practiced without my iPad or was in a hurry. I can still log the practice session and view the analytics later on.

The simple yet effective features make this one of my very favorite apps for musicians.

Pro Metronome

Price: free; one-time payment of $3.99 for premium version

Platform: iOS and Android

Pro Metronome

Pro Metronome is my favorite metronome app! I like that the interface looks like an electronic metronome, rather than the old style back-and-forth metronome. In this app, it’s easy to adjust the tempo by moving the circle to the right or left.

The free version works if you just need a simple metronome, but I highly recommend buying the premium version. The upgrade includes subdivisions, playlists, and polyrhythms.

Tonal Energy

Price: one-time payment of $3.99

Platform: iOS and Android

The coveted green smiley face in Tonal Energy

Another one of my favorite apps for musicians is Tonal Energy. It has SO many features within it, and I feel like I’ve hardly scratched the surface. I really just use this to tune, but I’m going to check out all the other features soon! This one is fun, because when you’re in tune, a little green smiley face pops up. 🙂

Tuner Lite by Piascore

Price: free, one-time payment of $4.99 to remove ads

Platform: iOS only

Tuner Lite

Tuner Lite is a simple tuning app. I always used to use this one when I had an iPhone because it’s easy to use and free (if you don’t mind a banner ad at the bottom). Not much to say about this app, it’s just a basic tuner!
