Trying the New Tonal Energy Desktop App
I’m so excited to share the new Tonal Energy desktop app with you! Tonal Energy is my go-to tuner on my iPhone and iPad, and I know having it on my computer will be helpful for teaching.
In today’s video, I’m sharing an overview of the new Tonal Energy desktop app, along with the differences between it and the original Tonal Energy app.

Why I use Tonal Energy
I first started using Tonal Energy when I had an Android phone a few years ago and the tuner I used to use on iOS wasn’t available on the Google Play store. I’d seen other teachers use it before, and knew that it was full of many metronome capabilities.
I’ve continued using it since I switched back to an iPhone, and I love how in depth and customizable it is! It’s also fun to have the feedback of the smiley face when tuning. 🙂

What’s New in the Tonal Energy Desktop App
The biggest draw of the Tonal Energy desktop app is the fact that you can open multiple windows at once to have an in depth practice session. While you can perform multiple functions at the same time in the traditional app, this gives you even more customization options.
With a computer, you’ll also have more microphone and recording options. If you use an interface like I do, you’ll be able to make high quality recordings right in the app! If you already use Tonal Energy to make quick practice recordings, this upgrade in options will help you get a better understanding of what your playing really sounds like.
Why You Might Want the Tonal Energy Desktop App
Having Tonal Energy on a computer can be helpful for a multitude of reasons. If you get easily distracted by your phone in a practice session, having your tuner and metronome on a computer instead could help you stay focused.
I’m particularly excited to have it on my computer, since the speakers get so much louder than my phone or iPad speakers. Often, when I put on a metronome in a lesson, my students can’t hear the metronome over their own playing. By using Tonal Energy on my computer, the metronome will be so much louder!
Buying the Tonal Energy Desktop App
The new app is available on their website for both Windows and Mac, and as of now, it costs $9.99. You’ll receive a license for five computers.
Let me know if you have any questions about the Tonal Energy desktop app, or if you use it in any other way than how I showed today. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
