Creating Setlists in Forscore: The Perfect Feature for Gigs!
One of my favorite ways to perform with my iPad is by creating setlists in Forscore. This feature is perfect when you’re playing multiple pieces that you have imported to Forscore.
Watch the video below for my tutorial to create and use setlists, and below, I also have the steps written out with pictures.

What are Setlists in Forscore?
A setlist in Forscore is a collection of scores. After entering the setlist, you can flip through the scores in the order of your choosing, one after another. It’s just like if you were to put your paper sheet music in concert order on your music stand!
You can choose exactly which scores go in the setlist, and their exact order. With a Bluetooth pedal, you can easily flip right through the entire setlist without touching your iPad!
In the video, I use the Vangoa Wireless Page Turner to demonstrate how turning pages within a setlist in Forscore works. I do have a coupon for this pedal if you’re interested! Use 05Elizabeth for 5% off until February 24, 2024.
Finding Your Setlists
Before we create a setlist, let’s look at where you’ll find them and how to navigate to a setlist.

Go to the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top left of the screen- it should be the third icon.
This brings up a pop up window that will be your hub for Setlists.

Here you can see all of your setlists, search for one, and change the order they’re listed in. The orders are manual (you can move them around to create your own order), title (alphabetical), and fresh (it puts your oldest, least played setlists at the top for you to rediscover).
Pressing the i next to the setlist’s title shows you information like its name, any folders it’s part of, and the libraries it’s in. Pressing the arrow to the right of the i shows you the list of scores within that setlist.
On this page, you can also change the order of the scores within the setlist.
To enter the setlist, just tap on the score you’d like to start with, and you’re in! The pop up window will disappear so you can start reading off the score.
Creating Setlists in Forscore
To create a forscore setlist, press the hamburger menu to bring up the setlists pop up. Then press the plus icon at the top right of the window to create your new setlist.
It’ll prompt you to name your new setlist, and once you press “Create”, it’ll take you to that setlist within the pop up window.
To add scores, press the plus icon within this window.

You’ll find yourself on an entirely new screen. On the right, you’ll see all the scores you have within the app, and once you tap on a score you’d like to add, it’ll populate in the left half of the screen.
On the right, you can choose different orders to view your scores, or if you drag the list down, a search bar will pop up to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
On the left, you can begin ordering your scores manually (drag the scores around to create the order you’d like), by title, reference, fresh, or shuffle them.
The plus icon in the top left lets you either add the current score (whatever you were just on while opening the setlist pop up window), or you can add a placeholder.
Adding a Placeholder
A placeholder is exactly what it sounds like – if you don’t yet have a score that you know will be part of the setlist, you can use a placeholder to write the name of the piece. Once you have that song imported to Forscore, you can add it to the setlist.
When you’re ready to add in the score to the setlist, go to the setlist pop up window.

Press on the blue icon to the right of the placeholder (is that an arrow? A plane? A mail icon?), and it’ll bring you to the page where you can select scores. Whatever score you select here will take over the placeholder’s spot.
Organizing Your Setlists in Forscore
On the setlists pop up window where you can see the list of all your setlists, you can manipulate them in addition to just changing the order they’re listed in.
By pressing the edit button in the top right corner, you can select one setlist or multiple. Then you can either reset your selection, delete, edit, duplicate, or share the setlists.
If you choose to share a setlist, you can share the setlist only, the setlist including scores, merged pdf or annotated pdf (a massive pdf document containing all scores within the setlist), or a text list that just shares the titles of the scores within the setlist.
Once you select a format, the typical iOS sharing window will pop up, and you can send it wherever you want.

That’s a basic rundown of setlists in Forscore, which I think is such a helpful feature when you want to perform off your iPad! I used this for a Christmas gig last December, and it worked perfectly in rehearsal and for the performances.
